Student Leadership

Students don’t have to be school captains or house captains to be considered leaders. We encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.

Each year the SRC (student representative council) is lucky to have four members from each year group voted by their peers. The SRC helps to raise funds for many charities, in particular our World Vision Child sponsor. The SRC also plays an integral part in organising the Doonside Showcase Day.

The leadership team consists of 2 Captains, 2 Vice captains and 8-10 prefects. This team undergoes a 6 week afternoon training program and they conduct speeches in front of staff and students. The Leadership team assist staff in running formal events and are role models to the junior SRC and all  students.

The SRC and leadership team have their own roll call. This allows them to conduct leadership activities each morning. The roll call also allows the SRC members to pass on information to their peers in their year group. The Leadership team this year participated in Peer mediation training and are seen out in the playground on duty every lunch time.

For the second year in a row we were able to join with our Colebee Learning Community and have a joint SRC camp. The students worked on developing their leadership and team work skills. The students gain great friendships with the local primary schools and cant wait to hopefully be part of the SRC and go the following year.
